Michael Eugene "Gene" Apple

Michael Eugene “Gene” Apple, 63, of Reidsville went home to be with The Lord on Friday, August 17, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 20, 2018 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Kennon officiating. Burial will follow in Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery. Gene was born in Rockingham County to the late Alfred Philmore Apple and Carolyn Rich Apple. He was a retiree of Lorillard Tobacco Company with 31 years of service and the Rockingham County School System with 13 years of service. He was an active member at Tabernacle Baptist Church where he played the guitar and did any miscellaneous jobs to be helpful. He loved spending time with his grandkids, hunting, fishing, gardening and playing the guitar. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Whaley Apple; sons, Michael Apple and wife, Mary Kay, Billy Apple and Whitney Clark; grandchildren, Holden Joyce, Bryson Apple, Bently Apple (on the way); brother, James Apple and wife, Judy; sisters, Phyllis Kennon and husband, Junior , Dorris Carol Farmer and husband, Sammy; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, August 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence.
