Michael Kenneth Blackwell

Reidsville - Michael Kenneth Blackwell, 67 of 347 County Line Road, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Sheree Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park with military graveside rites. Mr. Blackwell was born on July 31, 1943 to the late Luther and Gertha Faircloth Blackwell. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Sergeant 1st Class and M.P. where he retired after 22 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a mechanic at Proctor and Gamble. One of his greatest joys in life was riding his Harley Davidson. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wives; Judy O'Brien Blackwell and JoAnn Marsh Blackwell; brothers, Joseph Blackwell, Louis Blackwell and John Blackwell and sister, Bertha Blackwell Phillips. He is survived by his sister, Dale Blackwell Coons; brother, Earl Blackwell; nephew, Gene Blackwell and wife Tammy; several other nieces and nephews; aunt, Barbara Horne and his loyal dog, Ricco. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
