Myrtle Louise Dunlap Young Boone

Reidsville: Myrtle Louise Dunlap Young Boone, 81, of 1839 Barnes Street, went home to be with The Lord on July 10, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2018 at Covington Wesleyan Church with Pastor Ralph Clayton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The inurnment will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Myrtle was a native of Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Edward and Nettie Thacker Powell. She was retired from Cone Mills where she served as the executive secretary and the Manager of the credit union. She gave her life to the Lord at the age of 6 and was a charter member of Covington Wesleyan Church where she served faithfully her whole life. She enjoyed singing in the choir and loved people above all else. Myrtle was quick witted like her Dunlap brothers. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Warren “Pap” Allen Young, Jr. and her second husband, Clyde “Tommy” Thomas Boone; her sister, Marcine Hicks; her brothers, John Dunlap, James Dunlap and Gurney Dunlap. She is survived by her daughters, Denise Young of Winston-Salem and Dawn Richardson and husband, Henry of the home; her special sister, Betty Jean Purgason and husband Walt; her step children, Jeff, Greg, Nikki, Felicia and Mark Boone and her special miniature poodle, Charlie.
