Reidsville - Myrtle S. Shropshire, 95, of Penn Nursing Center, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the nursing home.Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Shannon Newsome officiating. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Mrs. Shropshire was born in Stoneville, NC and was the daughter of the late, William and Liza Shropshire. She was a longtime and faithful member of Reidsville Christian Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed studying the Word with her friends in the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Her family was her life and she was careful to always make her house a home and welcoming to visitors. She especially enjoyed her cat, Tabby. She enjoyed sharing her special desserts and was known for her amazing cornbread and slaw. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Shropshire; her sisters, Stella S. Stallings and Viola S. Durham Smith; her brother, Gordon Shropshire and her son-in-law, Bob Crouse.She is survived by her children, Sue Shropshire Crouse of Reidsville; Jim Shropshire and wife, Kevie of Fort Mill, SC and Richard Shropshire and wife, Sybil of Burlington, NC; grandchildren, Steve Crouse and wife, Elizabeth, Mark Crouse, Liz Lovelace, Mike Shropshire and wife, Charline and Chris Shropshire and wife, Deana; great grandchildren, Wade, Richard and Luke Crouse, Holly, Hannah, Haley and Hayden Shropshire, and Aaron Shropshire; sisters-in-law, Louise Shropshire of Pittsboro, NC and Betty S. Reddick of Warner Robbins, GA and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions may be made to Reidsville Christian Church, Fidelis Sunday School Class, 2020 South Park Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320 or your local animal shelter. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving care provided by the staff of Penn Nursing Center.
