Nancy Marie Vernon Hutchens

Reidsville: Nancy Hutchens, 80, passed away at Annie Penn Hospital on Tuesday May 17, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Pleasantville Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Drum officiating. The family will receive friends after the graveside service and at other times at the home. Nancy was born January 15, 1935 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Jesse Holman Vernon and Hester Nana Vernon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all she knew. Favorite pastimes included gardening, fishing, and in her younger years she enjoyed cooking, sowing and working on the farm. She will be missed by her entire family and many friends. Nancy was preceded in death not only by her parents but by three brothers: Elwood, J.B. and Billy Vernon; and one sister Janie Brown. She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Hutchens, Sr. of the home; two sons: William “Bill” Hutchens Jr. and wife, Lisa of Stokesdale, and Ronald Hutchens and wife, Kim of McLeansville; one daughter, Marlene Watkins of Stokesdale; grandchildren: Will, Daniel, Jacob, and Matthew Hutchens and Tracy Burnette; two great grandchildren, Glenn Michael Lakins and Dylan Burnette;and one great, great grandchild, Kayden Lakins; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
