White Lake – Nancy Purgason James, 67, of Womack Way, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2011 at Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Warner and Rev. James Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. James was born in Rockingham County to the late Walter and Lillian Brown Purgason where she lived most of her life and retired at White Lake six years ago. She was always committed to her faith and was a longtime member of Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. She was currently attending Colly Chapel in White Lake, NC. She was retired from the American Tobacco Company and was a faithful member of the ABWA, Pride and Hope Chapter. She was an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan! Selfless and faithful, Mrs. James was known for putting others first and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ann Purgason Carter and Gloria Kay Purgason.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Harvey James of the home; children, Tim James and wife, Chattie of Ruffin, Kay James of Ruffin, Walter James and wife, Tracey of Reidsville, Matt James and wife, Rachel of Ruffin and Jody Setliff and wife, Erica of Reidsville; grandchildren, Dillon, Taylor, Austin and Wyatt James; brothers, Walter “Bud” Purgason and wife, Betty of Reidsville, Daniel Purgason of Ruffin, Wayne Purgason and wife, Patti of Bethania, NC and Mike Purgason and wife, Jean of Ruffin; sisters, Betty Talbott and Jo Clifton and husband, Jack all of Reidsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 6-8 pm. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Walter and Tracey’s home (250 Chicken Farm Road, Reidsville).
