Nannie Lindsey

Nannie Lindsey, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral home with Pastor Heath Lloyd and Pastor Tommy Massey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Nannie was born in Rockingham County to the late Jake Carter and Sally Rickman Carter. She retired from Sears Mail Order after 35 years of service. She worked in the pro shop at Plantation Golf Course for several years during retirement. Nannie was an avid golfer and enjoyed exercising, gardening and working outside, most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Bill, Hugh and Ruben Carter, Harvey Jackson, Gracie Snyder, Mabel Trent and Polly Fraley. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Jack Lindsey; children, Cheryl Lindsey Martin (Daryl); grandchildren, Lindsey Alcorn (Gerald Pruitt), Ethan Alcorn (Teresa); step grandchild, Josh Martin (Chrissy); Sister-in-law, Helen Lindsey; Siblings, Walter and Tyree Carter, Emma Amos, Bettie Hubbard and Sarah Carter as well as a large extended family. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Audrey Wilson, Tammy Barnett and Betty Mays for their special love and care of Mrs. Nannie during a difficult time.
