Naomi Ann Gillie Long

Naomi Long, 90, of Kernersville, NC passed away Monday, January 2, 2023, at her daughter’s home following an extended illness.  

 Naomi was born in Reidsville, NC and lived in Florida, Virginia and South Carolina before returning to Reidsville to care for her parents.  She was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for 28 years.  Naomi loved her family, painting, sewing, embroidering, working in stained glass, reading, learning and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Pearl Gillie, her husband of fifty years, Tom Long, her daughter Jeannie Lasley, and three siblings, Louise, Nettie Sue and Pat.  She is survived by her daughters, Ruby Clayton, Jacksonville, FL (George); Susie Hook, Kernersville, NC;  Kelly Martin, Colorado Springs, CO (Ron); and one son, Ralph Clayton, Norfolk, VA (Joanne); and five stepchildren, Pam Messenger; Greg Long (Jane); Deb Utterback (Max); Jackie Long; Patsy Long; her brother, Bill Gillie (Jan), Oklahoma City, OK; 21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  

A funeral service to honor Naomi’s life will be held at 11 AM,  January 5, 2023, at Wilkerson Funeral home, 1909 Richardson Drive, Reidsville, NC with Pastor Phil Surrett officiating.  Visitation with the family will be prior to the service from 10 AM until 10:45 AM at the funeral home.
