Nell Green Griffin

Nell Green Griffin, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well as her daughter Lisa on Friday, June 26, 2020. She was born on June 1, 1932 in Monticello, NC to the late George and Marie Green. Nell was predeceased by her daughter Lisa Griffin Kingree, granddaughter Logan Kingree, great-grandson Oliver Paschal as well as siblings Grace Green Strader, Florence Green Summers, George Green, Raymond Green, and Curtis Green. Nell is survived by her loving husband Vincent “Pete” Griffin of 62 years, daughters Lori Nance (Randy), Leslie Pate (Eric), Lyndi Forehand (Greg), Libbi Mitchell (Jeff), and son-in-law Bill Kingree. She was “Gran” to ten grandchildren: Lindsay, Leah, Jake, Lexi, Lauren, Alex, Nick, Leanna, Luke, and Roman. She was also “Gigi” to eight great-grandchildren: Mckenna, Peyton, Tyler, Evie, Mila, Leo, Hayden, and Colt. Nell is also survived by siblings Gladys Loftis, Faye Baucom, Frank Green, Otis Green, Ernie green, and many loving nieces and nephews. Nell graduated from Monticello High School in 1950, where she played on the basketball team. After high school, she taught dance and worked at Jefferson Standard Life. She married the love her life, Pete Griffin in 1958 and worked tirelessly at home raising five daughters, filling their home with love and laughter. When the girls were older, she worked at Wysong & Miles making many treasured friends. She was a gifted artist, pianist, and gardener who enjoyed college basketball and her Atlanta Braves. Her fabulous dance moves will always be remembered with a smile. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a fabulous cook who somehow managed to always meet the eager demand for her fried dressing, corn, and fruit cobblers. Her kindness, talent and faith lives on thanks to the legacy she leaves us here on earth. Nell faithfully attended St. Paul UMC in Greensboro for many years and later became a member of Monticello UCC. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3rd at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville, NC at 11:00 am with Pastor Greg Bouck from Monticello UCC officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Church in Reidsville. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing will be observed and everyone is required to weas a face mask.
