Nellie Webb Green

Reidsville: Nellie Webb Green, 81, of 492 NC 65, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 29, 2009 and joined her husband, Raymond “Red” Staley Green who preceded her in death on October 26Th.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 1, 2009 at New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church with Dr. Mark Harris and Rev. Tom Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Mrs. Green was born in Rockingham County to the late Charlie K. and Hazel Sharpe Webb. She graduated from Appalachian State University and retired as a home Economics teacher with the Rockingham County schools after 30 years of service. She was an active member of New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church where she served as the pianist for many years. She loved needlecrafts and flower gardening and was known for her wonderful pound cakes. In addition to her husband, "Red", she was preceded in death by her brother, Elton Webb and an infant son, Charlie Everette Green.She is survived by her son, Staley Green and wife Debbie of Charlotte; daughter, Ivey Ann Butler and husband Paul of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kevin and Beverly Butler, Kelsey and Brandon Green; sister-in-law, Claudia Webb.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Saturday, October 31, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence of Ivey Ann and Paul Butler, 799 County Home Road.
