Nellie "Tootsie" Crouch Carter

Nellie “Tootsie” Crouch Carter, 93, went home to be with The Lord on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Cypress Valley in Reidsville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Sharpe officiating. The burial will follow at Lawson Cemetery in Eden. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at 341 Grady Road (home of her son, John Carter).

Nellie was a native of Rockingham County and born to the late Robert and Minnie Foley Crouch. She was a longtime Avon representative and was a devoted homemaker. Nellie was a charter member of Reidsville Baptist Church and served faithfully there as long as her health allowed. She loved day trips to the mountains, bargain hunting, spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren. Along with her parents Nellie was also preceded in death by her husband Otis Calvin Carter; sons Kenneth Wayne Carter, William “Billy” Carter, Sr., and the Honorable Pastor Jerry Lee Carter; sisters Mary Kingston and Marie Veasey; brothers Paul Crouch and Ronnie Crouch.

Nellie is survived by her sons John Carter and Rick Carter (Melissa); grandchildren Ronnie Carter, Timmy Carter (Lissa), Tracey Carter, Hope Lovings (Marty), Kevin Carter (Renee), Becki Johnson (Nick), Billy Carter, Jr., Shannon Pinnix (Donnie), Brandon Carter and Heather Grogan (Travis); 21 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; sister Laverne Murray (Robert); and brother Milton Crouch.
