Nora Farthing Gammon

Greensboro – Nora Farthing Gammon, 92, of Blumenthal’s Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Eugene Street in Reidsville, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010.Graveside funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, January 16, at Greenview Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. Mrs. Gammon was born in Danville, VA to the late Charles Lee and Alice Burnett Farthing. She retired from P. Lorillard. She lived as a woman of faith, and was a longtime, faithful member of Community Baptist Church. She was a committed homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Along with her parents, Mrs. Gammon was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest O. Gammon; her infant daughter, Peggy Jean Gammon and her daughter, Peggy Jo Gammon Seay; and her nine brothers and sisters.She is survived by her daughters, Shelby Garner Smith and husband, Ben of Jamestown, NC, and Tina Gammon Jones and husband, Teddy of Reidsville; granddaughters, Debbie Seay Price and husband, Bud, Niki Seay Drake and Rebecca Kathryn Jones; great grandchildren, Jake Price and Austin Price; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, Rosa Watlington and Pearl McMurray.The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Stephen South and the staff at Blumenthal’s for their loving and sincere care provided during her long stay at the nursing home.There will be no formal visitation but the family will receive friends after the funeral at Tina and Teddy’s home (203 West Stonebury Court)
