My work on earth is done. I am now in the presence of the Lord.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, N. G. Washburn, Jr. As of 01/19/2025 at the Gibson House in Wentworth, Glenn entered the pearly gates.
Born on 03/17/1927 in Reidsville, NC to the late Numa and Myrtle Washburn. He was a farmer, a salesman for Williams Trull, truck driver for Kirkman & Koury, owner of Washburn’s Grocery and co-owner of Washburn’s Mobile Home Park and Fishing Lakes. He was a prominent member of AA for 50 years. Glenn was well known in this community for his countless devotion to helping others in AA. No matter what he was doing, he always had time to help whoever was in need. He was on the Board for Remmsco House for many years. Several years ago he was honored by them by naming one of their buildings “Glenn’s House”. He received countless awards for his dedication and work through AA.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Jean Washburn; sons, Ron Washburn and Earl Washburn; sisters, Dot Wilson, Mary Lou Chambers and Frances King.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Hill, Kenny Washburn (Vickie), Debra Billingsley (Kenneth); grandchildren, Jessica Lasley (Kevin), Joey Washburn, Tim Washburn (Tiffany), Bif Washburn (Kris), Wendy Washburn (Jennifer), Mark Hill, Craig Handy (Julie), and Chris Handy (Katie); daughter-in-law Barbara Washburn; great grandchildren, Ryan Washburn, Gavin Washburn, Alex Washburn, Zack Washburn, Kate Washburn, Khloe Weekley, Kylie Futral and Rod Washburn and a large extended family.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at the home of his daughter, Debra Billingsley (1920 US 29 Business).
