Numa Reid Strader

Reidsville – Mr. Numa Reid Strader, Sr., 98, of 613 Guerrant Spring Road went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Warner officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Home Congregational Christian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Strader, David Strader, Eric Strader, Michael Pruitt, Gil Johnson, Ken Cobb and Nathan Strader. Mr. Strader was born in Rockingham County to the late Arthur Stephen and Elizabeth Barber Strader and was a farmer and a warehouse worker. He was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Thelma Cobb Strader, and second wife, Elizabeth Strader; daughter, Lucy Ann Hall and son, David E. Strader; grandchildren, Timothy Strader, Robin McConnell and Julie Lawrence. Surviving are his children, Alma Ward and husband Willie, Dorothy Pruitt and husband, Vern, Numa Reid Strader, Jr. and wife Mary Kay, Geraldine Strader and Sherry Lawrence and husband, Rodney; grandchildren, Diana Harlow, Phyllis Hyler, Kim Goins, Pam Page, Michael Pruitt, Greg Strader, David D. Strader and Eric Strader; great grandchildren, Keith Knight, Elizabeth Gray, Scott Hyler, Robert Thompson, Josh Page, Emily Parcell, Meridth Bogue, Tayler Pruitt, Kaitlyn Pruitt, Christopher and Noah Strader, Sydney Strader and David L. Strader; great great grandchildren, Kirsten Knight and Audrey Page ; sister, Lorene Tate; sister-in-law, Opal Strader. Special thanks to Greg and Patsy Humphrey, Phyllis Hyler and Russell Moore, Rockingham County EMS and Ruffin Volunteer Fire Dept. First Responders for the care shown to Mr. Strader. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, February16th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence.
