Reidsville, Ola Groff Dalton, 100, of 28 Circle Drive, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Baptist Temple Church with Rev. Paul Warrick, Rev. Thomas W. Carter, Sr. and Rev. John Groff officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Ola was born in Pittsylvania County, Va. to the late Robert Lee Groff, Sr. and Arabell Burnett Groff and was a retiree of Burlington Industries with 43 yrs. of service. She became a member of Baptist Temple Church in 1932 and faithfully tended the nursery for 67 yrs. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Monsees Dalton; son, David Eugene Dalton; sisters, Maddie Groff and Annie G. Gray; brothers, Henry Groff and Hiawatha Groff.
Survivors include her son, John James ”Jamie” Dalton; daughter, Frances Dalton Carter and husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Wayne “Pete” Carter and wife, Tonja, John Paul Carter and wife, Wendy, Jonna C. Comer and husband, Michael and Beth Carter and boyfriend, Clint Lawrence; great grandchildren, Jonathan Comer and wife, Samantha, Joseph Comer, Josh Robinson, Sam Carter, Tripp McKinney, Rachael McKinney and boyfriend, Nick Clifton and Paul Thomas “Willie” Carter; great great grandchildren, Kathryn Elizabeth Comer and Evangelina Maria Robinson; brothers, Robert Lee “Buck” Groff, Jr. and wife, Virginia, Rev. John Groff and wife, Jane and Malcolm “Pete” Groff; sisters-in-law, Louise Dalton of Danville, Va. and Cassie Dalton of Roanoke Rapids and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home
and other times at the home.
