Orene Joyce Potter

Orene Joyce Potter, 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Gibson House/Hospice of Rockingham County.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM at Lawsonville Road Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 with Dr. Ron Tuck officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Tuesday evening July 13, 2021 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Orene was born in Rockingham County to the late Henry and Mozelle Shaffer Joyce and was a retiree of Burlington Mills for over 47 years. She was the best cook in town and loved her family especially her great great grandchildren , Willow and Levi. She was a longtime member of Lawsonville Road Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and with her sisters, Betty and Emma Jane who were known as “The Joyce Sisters”. She was also preceded in death by her son, P.D. Pruitt; sisters, Emma Jane Isley and Laura “Tootsie” Patterson and brother, William “Crip’ Thomas Joyce.

Survivors are her husband, Robert “R .C.” Potter; daughter, Janice Paschal and husband, Glenn; son, Jeffrey Pruitt and wife, Kristy; stepdaughter, Penny Stanfield and husband Mark; grandchildren, Millie, Casey, Austin and Colby ; step grandchildren, Emily and Amelia; seven great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; seven great great grandchildren; sister, Betty Stallings; brothers, Calvin Joyce and wife, Ruby and Robert Joyce and wife, Janet and many special friends and wonderful neighbors.
