RUFFIN: Drewey Osvert Gammon, 87, of 7273 NC Highway 700, passed away on Monday, April 02, 2012 at the Rockingham County Hospice Home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. David Underwood and Rev. Cress Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben, Brad and Anthony Gammon, George Vincent, Kevin French and Michael Wright. Mr. Gammon was born in Rockingham County to the late John Martin Gammon and Dollie Cox Gammon. He was of the primitive Baptist faith and a retired farmer. Drewey loved to square dance and flat foot, attending sporting events and above all spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Cross Gammon; sons, Dale Gammon and wife, Peggy, Johnny Gammon and wife Amy, Jimmy Gammon and wife, Shelia; grandchildren, Casey Vincent and husband, George, Shannon French and husband, Kevin; Ben Gammon, Brad Gammon, Rebekah Wright and husband, Michael; Ashley Gammon and Anthony Gammon; 4 great grandchildren; caregivers, Pennie Wilson and April Davis. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 3rd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
