Reidsville: Owilda Moore, 87, of the Bethany community, died on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Evergreens Senior Healthcare in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at New Lebanon Christian Church with Rev. Mark Harris and Rev. Charles Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Wayne Garrison, Jerry Garrison, Thomas Moore, Randall Vanhoy, Michael Moore and Randy Ward. Owilda was born in Rockingham County to the late Will Tom and Susie Suitts Moore. She was a graduate of Bethany High School and a retiree of Gem Dandy with 37 years of service. She was life member of New Lebanon Christian Church and served as the church pianist and organist for over 53 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Otha Moore and sisters, Alma Barham, Myrtle Friddle, Bernice Sharpe and Octola Thompson. She is survived by her nephew, Kermit Thompson of Greensboro; nieces, Allene Mitchell of Reidsville, Eleanor Manning of Greensboro, Maxine Reid and Agnes Vanhoy, both of Kernersville and Iris Sharpe of Greensboro; a host of Great, Great-great and Great-great-great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Monday, February 23rd from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the 4th Floor, Orange Hall at Evergreens Senior Healthcare for their love and care during the two years of her residency. Special thanks also to Ruth Capps for all the good cakes she supplied during Owilda’s residency at Evergreens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The New Lebanon Christian Church Family Life Center, 521 Huffines Mill Road, Reidsville, NC 27320 or Charity of Donor’s Choice.
