Clayton, NC - Pamela Jean Carroll Minnix, 57, of Clayton, North Carolina passed away on July 12, 2011 surrounded by her devoted husband and two sons. She was born December 21, 1953 in Reidsville, N.C., the daughter of the late Eugene Preston Carroll and Mary Louise Wall Carroll. She was the granddaughter of the late Charlie and Carrie Carroll of Ruffin, NC and Albert and Mae Wall of Reidsville. She was a 1971 graduate of Reidsville Senior High School and attended Western Carolina University where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. When Pam was 16 years old, she was crowned “Miss Teenage Reidsville”. She was a beautiful woman not only outside but inside as well. She died after a long, courageous, and valiant battle with cancer. In addition to her parents and grandparents, Mrs. Minnix is preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Harold Carroll (Bubba). Surviving are her loving husband, William Odell Minnix, and two sons, Brian Franklin Miller of Raleigh, NC and Eric Scott Miller of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by two sisters, Janet Carroll White and husband Jim of High Point, NC and Jo Carroll Warwick and husband Alan of Charlotte, NC. Pam is also survived by her brother Michael Wayne Carroll and wife Vy of Katy, Texas. Her surviving nieces and nephews include Emily Warwick Knopp of Denver, NC, Sarah Warwick Robinson of Durham, NC, Allison Louise White of High Point, NC and Michael Alexander Carroll of Katy, Texas. Pam is also survived by her special dog, Rocky, who was always by her side and brought a smile to her face. Mrs. Minnix worked for 15+ years for The May Company, rising in ranks from store clerk to Human Resources Director. She enjoyed working in the retail business, having the unique ability to help others dress for any occasion. Pam possessed outstanding “people skills” and always made everyone feel special and important at all times. She possessed a gift for seeing the good qualities in people. The love of her life was family. Odell, her husband of 18 years, was an exceptionally faithful and loving caregiver throughout her long illness. He stood by her side through “thick and thin” and her family will be grateful forever to him. Brian and Eric, her two sons, brought immeasurable happiness to Pam and also greatly assisted in her care giving. Pam was a loving and doting mother and always put her children ahead of herself. The memorial service for Mrs. Minnix will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Baptist Temple Church in Reidsville, NC. The family will receive extended family and friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
