Patricia "Pat" Smith McCollum

Patricia “Pat” Smith McCollum, 64, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 1909 Richardson Drive Reidsville, North Carolina 27320 with Pastor Mickey Alcorn officiating. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 15th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Jennifer Sands. Pat was born on September 10, 1954 in Rockingham County to Houston Coy Smith and Thelma Starnes Smith. She worked in early childhood development at Faith Baptist Church and pursed a career in nursing. Pat worked in several areas of nursing but more notably at Morehead Hospital in labor and delivery and Hospice of Rockingham County where she spent many years caring for others. Pat loved spending time with her family, writing, and reading. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, snapping green beans, but above all things she loved her children and grandchildren more than anything else. She is preceded in death by her father, Houston Coy Smith; mother, Thelma Starnes Smith; twin sons, Matthew and Mark McCollum; and sister, Karen Renee Smith. She is survived by former husband, John McCollum; daughter, Jennifer Sands (Daryl); daughter, Tonya McCollum (Eric Chickanosky); son, Eric McCollum; son, Alex McCollum (Cydney); grandchildren, Rachel Sands, Gage McCollum, Kenan Bolden, Bella McCollum, Paisley McCollum; sister, Cheryl Andrews (Billy); brother, Jeffery Smith (Sandie) as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
