Mrs. Patty Snider Hopkins, 84 of Reidsville, died Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12th at Hospice of Rockingham County.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 19th at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends afterward.
Mrs. Hopkins was born in Rockingham County, NC, October 10th, 1934 to the late William Henderson and Nellie Smith Snider. She worked at a variety of part-time jobs from bookkeeper to Wentworth School substitute teacher. After she no longer worked as a substitute teacher, she would occasionally see former students in town who called her by name. She loved to bake birthday cakes for her grandchildren. She baked and decorated cakes for any occasion for others in the community. In addition to baking, she also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. She had a giving spirit and provided care to those in need. She cared for her father and then her husband at her home when they were in declining health until their passing.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Jarrell and husband Ted of Charlotte and her son, Jerry David Hopkins and wife Tara of Cornelius; grandchildren Sarah Taylor and husband Larry, Rachel Ramirez and husband Josué, Madison, Peyton, and Carson Hopkins; great-grandchildren Bryson and Aspen Taylor; sisters, Sadie S. Garrison, of Reidsville and Mary S. Brann, of Brown Summit; brother Jerry H Snider, of Reidsville and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, David R. Hopkins, her brother, W.T. Snider; her sisters Bertha Cox, Nealie Webster, Lennis Dodson, Maggie Carter, Omie Thompson, Anne Dove and Betty Weber.
