Greensboro - Pauline Evans Herndon, 87, of Heartland Longterm Care, died on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Christ United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, with Dr. Ben Gafford officiating. The burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Herndon was a native of Marlboro County, SC and was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Josephine Driggers Evans. She retired from Bennettsville Department Store where she worked for many years as a sales clerk. Mrs. Herndon was a longtime and faithful member of Christ United Methodist. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Being a wonderful cook, she loved sharing with family and friends. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Herndon. Mrs. Herndon is survived by her sons, Jimmy Herndon and wife, Judy of Thomasville and Charlie Herndon and wife, Debbie of Montevideo, Uruguay; grandchildren, Susanne Fountain and husband, Mark of Florence, SC, Abby Easterling of Thomasville and Clint Herndon and wife, Jennifer of Holly Springs, NC; great grandchildren, Taylor, Sebby, William, Lilly, Tyndall, Luke and Levi; sisters, Elizabeth Byrd of Statesville, NC, Viola Hopkins of Pleasant Garden, NC, Dorothy Burr and husband, Woodrow and Marguerite Brock and husband, Charles all of Bennettsville, SC; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, "Rudy Dog". In Lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Henkle Hospice House, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 OR Christ United Methodist Church, PO Box 75, Bennettsville, SC 29512. Wilkerson Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
