Reidsville – Pearl Peele Griffin, 92, formerly of Bethany Road died peacefully after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Jacob’s Creek Nursing Home of Madison. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March17, 2013, at New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church. Pallbearers will be Kody Jones, Kevin Jones, Mike Clowney, Hal Griffin, Harry Sharp, Clay Barham and David Norman. Pearl was born in Surry County to the late Robert and Ollie Peele. She was a member of New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church and enjoyed a long career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, a sitter, and a farm wife. She enjoyed reading her Bible and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Griffin; daughter, Rebecca Sue Griffin; sisters, Mae P. Freemen, Ruth P. Cain, Delia P. Venable and Mattie P. Hastings; brothers, Roy Peele, Coy Peele and Arthur Peele. She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Branz ( Claude), Marcia Jones (Doug), Linda Ryan ( Bill), Cindy Farmer (Keith); grandchildren, Rebecca Branz (Mike Clowney), Diana Branz, Kody Jones (Lindsay), Kevin Jones (Corinne), David Norman (Alison), Caroline F. Comer (Chris), Ariel and Elijah Farmer; great grandchildren, Carson Branz, Griffin Jones, Eloise Jones, Cadence Clowney, Avery Norman and Foster Jones; sisters, Hazel P. York of Waynesboro, Va., Faye P. Yow of Greensboro. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall and other times at the home of Sylvia Branz. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Jacob’s Creek of Madison for the love and care shown to Mrs. Griffin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4615 Dundas Drive, Suite 103, Greensboro, NC 27407.
