Ruffin: Peggy Anne Meyer Martin of 2210 Guerrant Springs Rd. Ruffin, NC, age 73, died on August 22, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, at her home, following a 16 year battle with COPD. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Mizpah United Methodist Church, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Angie Toth officiating. There will be a luncheon in honor of Peggy following the ceremony in the fellowship hall. Peggy is survived by her husband, Lawrence Edward Martin, Sr., of the home; three children: Lawrence Edward Martin, Jr. and Diane of Ruffin, NC, Charles William Martin and Latina Dixon of Reidsville, NC, and Patricia Martin Cobb of Burlington, NC; three sisters: Gretchen Robinson and Herb of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sally Reder and Warren of Locust Grove, VA, and Melissa Wolfe and Mike of Wake Forest, NC; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; Paul Higgins and Jasmine (daughter, Paloma), Krystal Martin and Nick Jordan (daughters, Katie and Layla), Lee Strickland and Jen (sons, Grayson and Eli), Jeremy Cobb (daughter, Kirsten), Cody Marin, Lauren Clayton and Brad (Baby Clayton), Heather Cobb, Trey Martin, and Rhett Martin. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles William Meyer of Manassas, VA; her mother, Dorothy Fargis Meyer, of Farmville, NC; and her step-mother, Virginia Horn Meyer, of Manassas, VA. Peggy was born on September 16, 1941 in Farmville, NC, to parents Charles William Meyer and Dorothy Fargis Meyer. She graduated from Reidsville Senior High School in 1959. On September 10, 1960, she married Lawrence Edward Martin, Sr., whom she was married to for 54 years. Peggy’s most rewarding job was with Rockingham Opportunities Corporation for many years as the Assistant Director. She retired in 1999. Peggy was an active member of Mizpah United Methodist Church and loved volunteering at the Reidsville Soup Kitchen. She was a very loving and giving wife, mother, sister, Nana, and friend. The family would like to thank Advance Home Care, Hospice of Rockingham County, and Annie Penn nursing staff for the special care during her illness.
