Peggy Ruth Coggins Witty

Summerfield: Peggy Ruth Coggins Witty, 85, died Friday, July 14, 2017 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, July 17, 2017, at Glencoe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Selena Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00-12:45 at the church. Peggy was born on July 2, 1932, in Thomasville, NC, to the late Fred Coggins and Vennie R. Coggins. A graduate of Thomasville High School, she graduated from Ashemore Business School, Thomasville, NC. Peggy was married to Thomas E. Witty, Jr. on July 17, 1954, for 55 years until his death. She was a member of Glencoe United Methodist Church. Along with her parents and her husband, Peggy was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bill Witty, a niece, Janet Ritchie Holder and a nephew, Charles Murphy. Peggy is survived by her sons, Thomas E. Witty, III of Branson, MO, Jim Witty and wife Deb of Trophy Club, TX, Sam Witty and wife, Laura of Summerfield, NC; her grandchildren, Zeke Witty, Zoe Witty, Stacey Witty Loye and husband Brian, Katie Witty, Taylor Witty, Kyle Witty, Kelsey Witty and Eric Johnson and wife Charissa; her great grandchildren, Kyleigh Ligon, Elijah Loye and Griffin Loye; her sisters, Marty Shoemaker and husband Willie of Eden, NC and June C. Ritchie of Macon, GA; a brother-in-law, Bert Ritchie of Germantown, TN, and many nieces, nephews and special cousins. The family also wishes to thank her loving caregiver, Dawn Pruitt for more than 8 years of devotion to Peggy.
