Peggy Stanley Rickman

Reidsville: Peggy Stanley Rickman, 78, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 29, 2016, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Templeton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Peggy was born on May 21, 1937, in Rockingham County, to the late James Washington and Cora Sue Stephens Stanley. She was a homemaker who worked very hard raising seven children. She loved to read and build puzzles. Peggy also enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She really loved to dance and sing as well. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Rickman, her son, Keith Rickman, and her daughter, Gloria Smothers. Survivors include her son, Ken “Skeeter” Carter and wife Gail; her daughters, Debra Carter and husband George, Bunnie “B.J.” Gregory and husband Neal, Jan Vernon and husband J.R. and Christy Cook and husband Neal; a son-in-law, Rex Smothers; a daughter-in-law, Denise Rickman; 21 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brothers, James Stanley and John Stanley; her sisters, Sylvia Robertson and Sally Rickman, and her faithful companion, Gyp. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 28, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville and other times at the home.
