Penny Benfield Cannon

Penny Benfield Cannon, 56, of Reidsville, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Wilkerson Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Penny was born and raised in Rockingham County.  Although she was limited physically over the past few years, she was a picture of strength, boldness, and unwavering love. You would never hear her complain about her limitations because she focused on spoiling her children and grandchildren. She made her family feel loved and never wasted an opportunity to tell them or show them. More than anything, Penny loved the Lord. Her faith was demonstrated time after time during her illness and there is no doubt that today, she is walking with Jesus in Heaven.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Crystal Cannon; father, Billy “Odell” Benfield and mother, Charlotte Rich Benfield.

Penny is survived by her caretaker and significant other Mark Pruitt; sons Jack Cannon III and wife Amanda, and Brandon Cannon; grandchildren, Jack Edward, Brodey, Jase and Joanna; sister, Melissa Benfield; brothers, Darryl Benfield and Gary Benfield and wife Susan; and her best friend and caretaker Mary “Frances” Holmes.
