Reidsville: Rachel Moorefield, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Myers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Mrs. Moorefield was a native of Rockingham County and the daughter of the late Ben and Pearl Hodges. She was self employed as a beautician for many years. Mrs. Moorefield was a devoted woman of faith and she enjoyed gardening and working in her beautiful flowers. She especially loved roses. She was a faithful wife, and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, George H. Carter, Sr. and James W. Moorefield; her son, George H. Carter, Jr.; her brother, Joe Hodges and her sister, Bennie Allison. She is survived by her son, Russell Carter and wife, Christy of Winston-Salem; her daughter, Sonja Moorefield of Reidsville; her grandchildren, George “Butch” Carter, III and wife, Rebecca, Wendy Welker and husband, Josh, Danielle Patterson, Deidre Fulk, Christopher Dodson, Joshua Dodson, Katie Strader and husband, Johnathan, Hannah Allen, Hailey Carter, Kala Maltba and husband Cody, Jarret Welker and wife, Amber and Clayton Welker and wife, Julia; her great grandchildren, Zelda Strader, Jacob Patterson, Myles Vernon, Raelynn Welker, Mariah Maltba and Eli Maltba; her brother, Gerald Hodges and wife, Scarlet, her daughter-in-law, Glenda Carter and a large extended family.
