Raeford Roosevelt Strader

REIDSVILLE: Raeford Roosevelt Strader, 74, of 1720 Wolf Island Road, died on Friday, November 28, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 1, 2008 at Christian Fellowship Church with Rev. Bill McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church cemetery. Mr. Strader was born in Rockingham County to the late Dewey Strader and Lillian Comer Strader. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 33 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an avid fisherman and race fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Raeford Wayne Strader. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Kennon Strader of the home; sons, Michael Strader and wife, Kathy, Gary Strader and wife, Polly, all of Reidsville, Ricky Strader and wife, Kathi of Kannapolis, NC; daughter, Robin Strader Marsh and husband, Douglas of Reidsville; former daughter-in-law, Annette Strader Stone; 12 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Strader of Reidsville, Danny Strader of Ruffin; sisters, Shirley Hill and Shelby Guill, both of Reidsville. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, November 30th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence.
