Raleigh Hanks

Reidsville: Raleigh Hanks Jr., 65, of 806 Montgomery Street, died on Friday, August 8, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P M, Monday, August 11, 2008 at Reidsville Baptist Church with Rev. Fran Grillone officiating. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Mr. Hanks was born in Guilford County to the late Raleigh Hanks Sr. and Minnie Barham Hanks. He was a self employed carpenter and a member of Reidsville Baptist Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Hanks. Survivors include his wife, Mary Hanks of the home; sons, Jerry Hanks and wife Lisa, Raleigh Hanks III and wife, Cheryl; daughter, Sandra Penn and husband, Tommy; five step-children; nineteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; brother, Billy Hanks and wife, Lorraine; sisters, Alice Pope, Betty Rudd, Polly Crews, Frances Nelson and husband, Don and Carolyn Reed and husband, Larry. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 10th from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at the residence.
