Ralph Amos Whitlow

Reidsville: Ralph Amos Whitlow of Reidsville went to his heavenly home on August 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Fairview Baptist Church, 2531 Flat Rock Road, Reidsville with Pastor Heath Lloyd officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 11:00 AM prior to the service. Amos was preceded in death by his parents Shadrack Daniel and Heleon Griffin Whitlow and brother William “Bill” Whitlow. Amos was retired from Ball Metal Company and was the past Master of Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge # 384 AF & AM and a 32nd degree Mason. Being proud of his heritage he was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and a volunteer cannoneer with Orange Light Artillery 40th NC Troops. Prior to developing health issues he enjoyed skeet shooting and outdoor activities. Amos was known for his legendary July 4th BBQ’s at the lake and his annual fall stews in the Monroeton community. His homemade blackberry cobbler and Christmas fudge were signature dishes envied and enjoyed by all. On his 75th birthday a highlight was pulling the lanyard on Alcorn’s Firing Cannon. His proudest moments were the birth of his children Annette and Cliff and being asked to be a Deacon for Fairview Baptist Church. As an active member at Fairview Baptist Church he enjoyed helping on several committees, (homebound, bereavement, community missions and deacon) and weekly he would visit the nursing homes to visit anyone he knew. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Walker Whitlow and children Annette Whitlow Hunt (Curt), Clifton Daniel Whitlow (Wanda), Brittany Walker Stanley, Patrick Walker (Gretchen), grandchildren: Melanie Robertson Griffin (Carlton), Scott Morgan, Justin Morgan (Kelly), J T Tate, Katelyn Stanley, Lee Stanley, Kaylee Walker, and Trevor Walker; great grandchildren Tyler Griffin, Whit Morgan and Madeline Morgan; sister Carolyn Whitlow Hall and special nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Fairview Baptist Church Transportation Fund, 2531 Flat Rock Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
