Randall Lee Gilbert, 53
Former Virginia resident Randall Lee Gilbert, 53, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in Reidsville, NC after fighting a long and heroic battle with lung cancer. Randall was being visited and comforted by his true love, Diane, and other family members at the time of his passing.
Mr. Gilbert was born May 15, 1963, in Richmond, Va., to James B. and Viola Mae (Denning) Gilbert. Randall could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He worked many years as a housepainter in Richmond, VA. Prior to becoming sick and most recently, Randall did commercial and industrial painting with Denning Paint in Reidsville, NC.
His interests included getting together with family at the lake and riding around on the golf car greeting friends. Randall was also quite “The Chef”. He enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes as evidenced by his FaceBook posts. In younger years, he fancied car racing and was quite the race car enthusiast as well as he enjoyed motorcycles and the thrill they provided. Randall loved adventure and he loved people. He made friends easily wherever he went, always with a ready grin on his face.
Randall was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Mae (Denning) Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his father, James Gilbert and his wife, Barbara, his older brother, Billy (Peggy) Gilbert, and his younger sister, Teresa (Lewis) Cable, as well as special nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at three o'clock on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Dale Memorial Park, Chesterfield, VA.
Memorials may be made to hospice of Rockingham County.
