Ray Hunter Dixon

Browns Summit – Ray Hunter Dixon, 88, died, Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Ashton Place. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, April 1, 2011 at Monticello United Church of Christ where he was a life long member. Rev. Gary Owens and Rev. Jeremy Troxler will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.Born in Rockingham County on May 27, 1922, Mr. Dixon was a son of the late John and Claudia Morgan Dixon. He was a retiree of The American Tobacco Company, a member of the Stokesdale Masonic Lodge and a US Army veteran, having served during WWII. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Pleasants.Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sarah Knight Dixon; children, Susan and Nancy; brothers, Jimmy (Becky) and John (Martha); sister, Dorothy Wright.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Monticello United Church of Christ, 5001 NC Hwy 150 East, Browns Summit, North Carolina 27214.
