Raymond Staley Green

Reidsville: Raymond “Red” Staley Green, 81, of 492 NC 65 passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2009 at New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Mark Harris and Rev. Tom Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Mr. Green was born in Guilford County to the late George Everette and Vergie Marie Chrismon Green. Red retired after owning his own barber business for 53 years. He was of the Christian Faith and a member of New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church. Mr. Green was a charter member of the Wentworth Fire Dept. and a member of the Exchange Club. He enjoyed farming in his spare time along with fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George and David Green and sisters, Grace Strader and Florence Summers.He is survived by his wife, Nellie Webb Green of the home; son, Staley Green and wife, Debbie of Charlotte; daughter, Ivey Ann Butler and husband, Paul of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kevin and Beverly Butler, Kelsey and Brandon Green; brothers, Frank, Otis and Ernie Green; sisters, Nell Griffin, Fay Baucum and Gladys Loftis.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October, 28, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other time at the residence of the daughter, 799 County Home Road.
