Raymond Isley

Reidsville – Raymond Isley, 94, of 618-A South Main Street, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Penn Nursing Center. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Isley-Barker Family Cemetery in Axton, Virginia. Raymond was born in Axton, Virginia to the late John Pink and Essie Belton Isley He lived in Reidsville for 51 years. Raymond was a retired tobacco farmer and also worked in the furniture industry. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Rock of Ages Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae Hopkins Isley; sons, Charles and Walter Isley; daughter, Ruby Holland; brothers, Woodrow and Clifford Isley, and sisters, Mary Alice Isley and Hattie Hall. Raymond is survived by his son, Tony Isley and wife Rhonda of Eden, NC; daughters, Patricia Owens of Eden, NC, Nancy Whitaker, of Salisbury, NC; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one niece, Nancy Newcomb. The family will be at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Thursday, January 8 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and other times at the home of the daughter, Patricia Owens, 1121 Moir Mill Road, Eden, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
