Rebecca "Becky" Crumpton Comer

Rebecca “Becky” Crumpton Comer, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 13th, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Bible Way Community Church with Pastor Albert Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, from 1:00-2:00pm, and will share a time of fellowship following the burial back at the church.

Rebecca was born on January 16, 1938 in Caswell County to the late John Wesley “Pritchett” and Annie “Sudie” Ware Crumpton. She graduated from Cobb Memorial High School. Shortly after her graduation, she moved to Reidsville where she lived with her sister, Katherine, and started her working career. Then she met the love of her life, Bill. It was at that time God created the perfect union of two blessed souls. She loved her family with all her heart, giving up her career for them. More than anything she loved the Lord, and one of her favorite sayings was “Put that in the Lord’s Hands”.

She loved raising her beautiful flowers and sharing them with others and would often put a special bouquet together to share with her church family. Until her health declined, she was a faithful and active member of her church and took great pride in being one of the original founders of Bible Way Community Church. One of her favorite past times was spending time at the lake with her special niece and nephew-in-law, Vickie and Keith, but her absolute favorite vacation spot was at her son Todd’s house. She enjoyed watching men’s college basketball, especially her Carolina Tarheels, and was known for her very competitive spirit. Everyone wanted to be on her team.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth King (Thurman), Katherine Stanley (Raymond), Wilson Woodson (Douglas), Elizabeth King (Hansford), Wesley Crumpton, Linwood Crumpton, and Paul Crumpton.

Rebecca is survived by her husband of nearly 58 years, John William “Bill” Comer; son, William Todd Comer; daughter, Pam Comer; brother, James Crumpton (Sylvia); sister, Myrtle Dyer; and a very large, loving extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bible Way Community Church’s Samaritan’s Purse Fund.
