Browns Summit - Rebecca (Becky) Herbin Dixon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the age of 90. Her family celebrates her well-lived life with profound gratitude.
Born on October 18, 1934, to Norman and Bertha Herbin, Becky married her high school sweetheart, James (Jimmy) M. Dixon, 71 years ago. Their enduring love story was blessed with two daughters: Vickie Lambeth (Ward) of Summerfield and Debra Morrison of Greensboro.
Becky, affectionately known as "Nona" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, is survived by her husband Jimmy; her daughters; four grandchildren: John Lambeth (Sally), Ben Lambeth (Megumi), Rachel Hunsucker (Matt), and Matt Morrison; and seven great-grandchildren: Sydney, Henry, Karis, Emi, Luke, Ellie, and Olivia. She is also survived by her sister, Patty S. Herbin of Gibsonville and many beloved nieces and nephews. Becky was predeceased by her parents, sister Theresa Apple, brother-in-law Richard Apple, and brother Alvin Herbin.
A woman of many talents, Becky enjoyed successful careers as a corporate secretary, realtor, travel director, and beloved water aerobics instructor at the Reidsville YMCA. She was an active member of the American Business Women's Association and the Monroeton Garden Club. Following in her mother's footsteps, Becky was an accomplished seamstress and needle crafter.
Becky's roots ran deep in Browns Summit, where she cherished raising her family and maintained lifelong friendships from her Monticello High School days. Her faith was central to her life, exemplified by over 70 years of dedicated membership and leadership at Monticello Christian Church. Becky also treasured time spent with family and friends at her second home at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia.
A celebration of Becky's life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 2:00 pm at Monticello Christian Church, with Pastor Greg Bouck officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monticello Christian Church, PO Box 496, Browns Summit, NC 27214. The family would also like to thank Ava Pleasants for her compassionate care and ministry to Mom and our family during her illness.
Becky's warmth, faith, and love for her family and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
