Ruffin – Rebecca Jean Blackwell Moran, 72, of 581 Quick Road, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Dan River Primitive Baptist Church on Hwy 700 in Ruffin with Elder Kenneth Key, Elder Haywood Wray and Elder Thomas Solomon officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery.Mrs. Moran was born April 25, 1937 to the late John Raymond Blackwell, Sr. and Lelia Dix Blackwell. She was of the Primitive Baptist Faith and was an active member of Dan River Primitive Baptist Church. Along with gardening and working in her flowers she loved bird watching especially her hummingbirds.Rebecca is survived by her beloved husband, Garnett “Morris” Moran; brothers, John Raymond Blackwell, Jr. of Midlothian, VA; sisters, Dorothy Blackwell Callahan of Greer, SC and Barbara Blackwell Schaeffer of Lawrenceville, GA.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 14th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at the home.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either Dan River Primitive Baptist Church, c/o John Collie, Jr., 1620 Hampton Road, Reidsville, NC 27320 or The Parkinson Disease Foundation, 710 West 168th Street, New York, NY 10032.
