Rebecca Knight Troxler

Rebecca Knight Troxler, 89, passed away quietly at her home early Saturday, June 10, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Friendship United Methodist Church in Brown Summit, NC with Rev. Drew Hellams and Rev. Jeremy Troxler officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Mrs. Troxler was born September 6, 1927 in Rockingham County to the late Hugh Knight and Kate Dallas Knight. She was a long time member of Friendship United Methodist Church. As a member of the Greatest Generation, Becky instilled the values of God, family and service to others. She was the matriarch of the family, whom she truly loved and cared greatly for. Becky and Shorty loved to travel and took many trips with Clyde and Annie Lou Medearis. She was truly a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all her family and friends. Along with her parents, Mrs. Troxler was preceded in death by her husband, Vestal Huel “Shorty” Troxler, six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sons: Steve Troxler and wife, Sharon and Wayne Troxler and wife, Sandy both of Brown Summit, NC; grandchildren: Rev. Jeremy Troxler and wife, Margaret, Shawn Troxler and wife, Lauren, Alex Valencsin and husband, Steven, and Rebecca Carter and husband, James; nine great grandchildren; sister, Sarah Dixon; and special nieces Susan and Nancy Dixon. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Monday, June 12th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and other times at Becky’s home. The family would like to thank special care givers: Juanita Herbin, Stacy Terry, Denise Warren and Loretha Blackwell for their loving care given to Becky.
