Reid Johnson Griffin

Reid Johnson Griffin, 74, passed away early Thursday morning, December 7, 2017 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Dr. Edward Kezar officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Griffin was born in Rockingham County to the late John Vincent Griffin and Lydia Page Griffin. He was a 1961 graduate of Wentworth High School and retired from Reidsville Oil Company after 47 years of service and taught woodworking and furniture refinishing at Rockingham Community College for 12 years. He was a member at Riverview Presbyterian Church, an avid Nascar fan , Duke sports fan, a talented furniture craftsman and loved classic cars. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Griffin Sharp and Juanita Griffin Rodgers. He is survived by the love of his life, Carole Lemons Griffin, whom he fell in love with at 13 years of age; daughter, Jacqueline Carter; son, Anthony Griffin; grandson, Aaron Griffin; brother, Vincent Odell Griffin and wife, Nell; sisters, Katie Griffin Rice and Virginia Griffin Soyars. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the residence.
