Reidsville: Rexie Taylor Farmer Niro, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living of Reidsville.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 2:00 P.M., at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Puryear, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Sonya Huffstetler, 1004 Benton Court in Reidsville.
Rexie was born on September 11, 1925, the 10th child to Sarah Adams and James Worley Taylor, in Rye Cove, Virginia. She graduated from Rye Cove Memorial High School in 1944 and came to Reidsville where she worked at American Tobacco Company and retired after 44 years of service. She loved to sew, crochet beads, make rugs and quilts and enjoyed being outside working in her flowers. She was a member of Penn Memorial Baptist Church since 1946.
Along with her parents, Rexie was preceded in death by her husbands, Alvis Farmer of Reidsville and Joseph Niro of Milford, MA; brothers, Echol, Samuel, Henry, Charles and Earl Taylor, and sisters, Amanda Haygood, Elizabeth Hill, Rachel Beauer and Lola Belmany.
She was also preceded in death by her special nephew Norman Belmany and niece Freda Belmany Shelton with whom she enjoyed life with and loved as if they were her own children.
She is survived by her special niece Margaret Belmany Stauffer of Fairhope, Alabama and nephew Samuel Taylor of Reidsville, who lived with her parents and seemed like her own brother. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Rexie’s special angels at Brookdale Senior Living and Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their extraordinary care and support.
