Robbie Jones Barnes

Reidsville – Robbie Jones Barnes, 94 of 1020 Cypress Drive, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Annie Penn Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lisa Wishon officiating. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Greenview Cemetery. Mrs. Barnes was born in Rockingham County to the late Robert Calvin Jones, Sr. and Alice Mae Atkins and was a retiree of Adams Electric. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church for over 50 years and also a long time member of the Reidsville Women’s Club. She was an avid golfer in her younger years and still enjoyed watching it on TV. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Barnes. Survivors include her sister, Bea Whitsett of Falls Church, Va.; sisters-in-law, Iris Jones of Greensboro, NC and Helen Barnes Golden of Reidsville; nieces, Alice Jones of Raleigh, NC, Sarah Whitsett Rearich of Falls Church, Va., Carol Jones Carr of Cary, NC, Ellen Jones of Pa., Kay Lurz of Reidsville, NC; nephews, Allan Jones of California, Craig Jones of Concord, NC, Larry McDowell of Texas, Dr. Samuel McDowell of Greensboro, and Jason McDowell of Reidsville.
