Reidsville, NC – Robert Cecil Bondurant, 91, of 884 NC Hwy 87, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Thompsonville Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin Hall, Rev. Gary Pernell and Rev. Jimmy Cain officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites.
Mr. Bondurant was born in Forsyth County to the late Abraham and Pattie Richardson Bondurant. He was a veteran in the US Army serving during WWII. He served as Command Sgt. Major in the infantry and was a prisoner of war in Germany and Russia for 18 months in the early 1940’s. He later retired from the military in 1961.. He was retired from Big Apple Supermarket and was known affectionately as “Mr. B”. He attended Thompsonville Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Brande, Beulah Wilkins and Louise Allen; and his brothers, Wesley, Paul, Mylard and Reuben Bondurant.
Mr. Bondurant is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vivian Hall Bondurant of the home; his son, Robert Curtis Bondurant and wife, Hilda of Reidsville; grandchildren, Todd Bondurant and wife, Melony of Reidsville, Jason Bondurant and wife, Robyn of Eden and Courtney Cucchaira and husband, Bill of Winston-Salem; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 7 – 9:00 PM and other times at the residence.
