Mr. Robert Lee Gatton, age 81, of Reidsville, NC died December 6, 2013 at his home in Reidsville NC. He was born in Rowan County, NC, on April 11, 1932, the son of the late William Grady Gatton Sr. and Maggie May (Ennis) Gatton. Robert was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Sergeant in the US Army. He was 37 year employee for Duke Energy and a charter member of the Bible Way Community Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Trustee until his failing health. Robert loved hunting, gardening and being outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife Rebecca Bailey Gatton of fifty six years are: two children Janice Gatton VunCannon and husband Terry of Greensboro, NC, Donald Lee Gatton and wife Adrienne Melchert Gatton of Wallace, NC, grandchildren, John Gatton Hamby, Ethan Alexander Carlson, Bailey Melchert Gatton and Grayson Lee Gatton; brother, William Grady Gatton, Jr., of Rowan County, NC; sisters, Ruby (Gatton) Wasson, of Statesville NC and Peggy (Gatton) James, of Rowan County, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December, 10, 2013 at Bible Way Community Church with Pastor, C. E. “Sandy” Brown and Chaplin Steve Flint officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Memory Gardens with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Monday, December 9th . from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice of Burlington 2541 South Church St Burlington NC 27215, or Bible Way Community Church, 3870 Vance Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.
