Brown Summit: Robert Glen Hardin, Jr., 89, went home to be with the Lord July 5, 2016 at Wesley Long Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Hines Chapel, 4476 Hines Chapel, McLeansville, NC 27301 with Pastor John Jarman and Mr. David Wagoner officiating. The entombment will follow in the Green Family Memorial Gardens (8017 Old Reidsville Road, Brown Summit, NC) with military honors. The family will receive friends Friday, July 8 from 6-8 at the Green Family Life Center, 8017 Old Reidsville Road, Brown Summit, NC and other times at the home.
Glen was a native of Guilford County and the son of the late, Robert G. Hardin, Sr. and Margaret Waynick Hardin. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Seabee. He was a member of Hines Chapel, a committed family man and a lifelong farmer including dairy and beef cattle. He served as former president of the Guilford County Cattlemen’s Association and also was a member of the North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association. He retired from US Label serving the company in many capacities over the years. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Althea Hardin Schultz and brother, Charles “Buck” Hardin.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Judy Green Hardin of the home; children, Robert G. “Bob” Hardin, III and wife, Cindy of Statesville, NC, Carol Coleman and husband, Richard of Sabina, OH, Thomas “Tom” Hardin and wife, Bobbie of Colfax, NC, LuAnna Harris and husband, Frank of Greensboro, NC, Martha Watts and husband, Randall of Lugoff, SC, Chris Hardin of Brown Summit, NC, William Barker and wife, Kathie of Jamestown, NC, Jerry Barker and wife, Lisa of Brown Summit, NC and Mark Barker and wife, Laura of Raleigh, NC; 23 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy “DJ” Hardin Lewis and husband, Bill of Greensboro, NC; sister-in-law, Joyce Hardin of Concord, NC; brother-in-law, Bobby Green of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law, Dean Green and wife, Marilyn of Greensboro, NC; sister-in-law, Peggy Rich and husband, Gordon of Brown Summit, NC; and a large extended family.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice Staff, especially, Livina Eshiet, Dr. John Emerson Feldman and his oncologist, Dr. Gary Bradley Sherrill.
