Reidsville: Robert Lee Cox, Jr, 87, of 1127 Harrison Crossroads Loop, is now at peace with the Lord. He passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 13, 2014.
A native of Rockingham County, he was born on June 6, 1927 to the late Robert Lee and Emily Lemons Cox and had lived in Reidsville most of his life. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a retiree of Fieldcrest Cannon after 32 years of loyal employment. He enjoyed gardening, the Atlanta Braves and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. His last week of life was spent surrounded by family celebrating his 87th birthday, 62nd wedding anniversary and the upcoming Father’s Day holiday.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Cox and sister, “Little” Mary Cox and Van Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Loretta Simpson Cox of the home; daughter, Jessica Cox Merritt and husband, Larry; sons, R. L. Cox; Perry Cox; grandchildren, Wade Merritt, Melanie Merritt Corum and husband, Shawn; Robert Cox, IV and wife Kristi, Danielle Cox and twelve great-grandchildren.
A military graveside service will on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Greenview Cemetery officiated by Pastor Milton Kennon, Jr.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the residence.
