Robert Elmer Sparks

Reidsville - Robert “Jackie” Elmer Sparks, 83, of Country Farm Road, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Cypress Valley Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, May 13, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 1909 Richardson Drive, Reidsville, with Reverend Dwayne Anders officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm prior to the funeral service and other times at Monica’s home (131 Lake Hunt Drive).  Interment will follow at Apple’s Chapel, 7345 NC-61, Gibsonville, NC 27249.

Jackie was born in Rockingham County, to the late Elmer Jack and Nellie French Sparks.  He dedicated many years of service as an avid tobacco farmer.  Jackie was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family beyond measure.  He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church from his youth. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and delivering home-grown vegetables to his many customers. In addition, he was a lifetime fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics.

Along with his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Wanda Lorraine O’Bryant Sparks and his sister, Carolyn Faye Sparks Oakley.

He is survived by his daughters, Monica Sparks Benfield and husband, Heath; and Rhonda Sparks Brown and husband, John, of Reidsville; grandchildren, Abbie & Claudia Benfield, and Sharlotte & Cassie Brown; brother, Sidney Ray Sparks; sister, Judy Sparks Tillotson, along with numerous family and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Highgrove Longterm Care Center for being the hands and feet of Christ to Jackie during the final chapter of his life.
