Robert Thibodeau

Robert E. Thibodeau Jr., 65, of Reidsville, North Carolina, formerly of Carver, Massachusetts, passed away at home unexpectedly on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 1 PM at 660 Butter Rd., Wentworth, NC.

Bob was born May 17, 1959, in Duxbury, MA. He was the oldest of four siblings born to Robert E. Thibodeau Sr., and Phyllis (Paulding) Thibodeau. Bob was an avid hockey fan and, in his youth and young adulthood, played in several leagues as a fierce protector of the net. At the age of 16, Bob joined the Duxbury Volunteer Fire Department, continuing his family’s long tradition of public service and embarking on his own 30 years of service. A 1977 graduate of Duxbury High School, Bob went on to Northeastern University where he got his start in computer engineering and technology.

In 1980, Bob married his childhood sweetheart Lisa (Glass), and in successive years the two welcomed three treasured children Terri, Robert (Buzzy), and Bonnie. They made their first home in Plymouth, MA, and in 1989 moved to Carver where Bob served on the Carver Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter on Company 2, a dispatcher, and recruit trainer. In 2023 Bob joined the Wentworth Volunteer Fire Department, where he served until his passing. During the course of his service Bob received many awards, recognizing his dedication and excellence.

Bob was a true Renaissance man and could often be found building, rebuilding, repairing, and improving everything on his property from cars and trucks to furnaces and appliances. If it was broken, he could fix it. If there was a need, he could fill it.  An enthusiastic four-wheeler, Bob joined the Carolina Trail Blazers in 2019. He was recently elected Commander of the Trailblazers and enthusiastically began planning the monthly meetups for the organization. Bob loved Jeep life and the Jeep life loved him right back.

He enjoyed the Trailblazers monthly meets and could often be found four-wheeling with his best friend Jimmy Smith. Their adventures were boundless opportunities full of joy and camaraderie. Bob and his wife Lisa were committed supporters of the Trailblazers annual Veterans Ride. This event honors all branches of the United States Military by raising funds to support multiple Veterans groups. Together they crafted beautiful pieces of art to donate to the raffle. In addition, Bob and Lisa began the Veterans Thanksgiving Basket donations to military families in need.

Robert was preceded in death by his daughter ; Terri Nicole Thibodeau (TNT), his mother Phyllis, and recently his father Robert Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife Lisa (Glass) Thibodeau of Wentworth, his son Robert E. Thibodeau III of Wentworth, his daughter Bonnie and her husband Jim Gajewski of Rye, NH. Grandchildren Trinity, Evelyn, Adelaide, Dominic, and Miriam. Siblings Julie and her husband Patrick Moore of Mansfield, MA, Stephen and his wife Alison Thibodeau of Mansfield, and Kristy Thibodeau of Luxembourg.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Wentworth Volunteer Fire Department or the Carver, MA Volunteer Fire Department.
