Reidsville - Ronald Wayne O’Quinn ,75, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, with his wife by his side. He served in the US Army and the National Reserves and was honorably discharged on May 15, 1963. After his service in the army, he began his career with the American Tobacco Company in Durham, North Carolina. When the American closed in Durham, he transferred to Reidsville and worked there until his retirement. After his retirement, he pursued his passion of raising cattle and hay on his farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. O’Quinn and Jewel O’Quinn Mangum. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Elizabeth Fay Lester O’Quinn; son, Ronald Bryan O’Quinn of Santa Barbara, California; daughters, Terry O’Quinn of Arlington, Texas, Sharon O’Quinn of Arlington, Texas, Aleeta Smith and husband, Brian, of Timberlake, North Carolina, Sonya Cato and husband, Mike, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Angel Judlin and husband, Jai, of Willow Springs, North Carolina; brothers, William V. O’Quinn and wife, Carolyn, of Durham, North Carolina, Larry C. O’Quinn of Kinston, North Carolina, Charles S. O’Quinn and wife, Sandra, of Durham, North Carolina, Carl L. O’Quinn and wife, Doris, of Durham, North Carolina; grandchildren, Casey Dunbar, Jamie Bordeau, Christopher Smith, Michael Cato, Richard Cato, Elizabeth Cato.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Mayo Christian Church, 4949 George Taylor Road, Spencer, Virginia 24165, with burial to follow in the church cemetery with military rites. A visitation will be from 6-8 on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville.
