Rosalind Bradford Oakley

Tampa Florida – Rosalind Bradford Oakley, 99, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 10, 2010.A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 25 2010 at Reidlawn Cemetery, Reidsville, NC. Mrs. Oakley was born on July 22, 1910 to the late Royden and Clarice Franks Bradford in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. She was married to John B. Oakley, Jr., former scout executive of Cherokee Council and was a Reidsville business man. He passed away in 1983. Besides her parents and beloved husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack and step-son, J. B. Oakley III. Mrs. Oakley is survived by her niece, Judith Bradford; step-daughters, Eleanor Oakley Trigg and Jocelyn Oakley Edwards; step-grandchildren, Linda Oakley-Frye, Marie E. Collins, Gregory and Walter Edwards, Bob, Fred, and David Sills, Margaret Daugherty, Sarah Levesque and Susan Shaw.Rosie will be remembered by her friends and family for her beautiful voice, singing in the choir at the Presbyterian Church; her love of gardening, the arts and fashion.Her long time devoted friends, Sam and Stella Scott will mourn her passing.There will not be any formal visitation.Wilkerson Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
